3. Jewish Fundamentalism in Israel

The promised land

“After Lot had left, the LORD said to Abram:
'Look about you, and from where you are, gaze to the north and south, east and west; all the land that you see I will give to you and your descendants forever'.”
            (Gen. 13, 14-15)

“It was on that occasion that the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying:
'To your descendants I give this land, from the Wadi of Egypt to the Great River (the Euphrates), the land of the Kenites, the Kenizzites, the Kadmonites, the Hittites, the      Perizzites, the Rephaim, the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Girgashites, and the Jebusites'.” (Gen. 15, 18-19)

These are some of Bible verses in whom Jhwh (God) promises Abram and his offspring the land of Palestine. Initially Palestine was called land of Canaan. At present, Jews, Christians and Muslims cohabit in Palestine even called “the Holy Land” by believers. A part of the old Palestine includes the State of Israel, the rest is governed by the Organization for the Liberation of Palestine and Hamas organization. The latter controls only the Gaza Strip. Fundamentalism is rooted in events before establishing of the State of Israel in 1948.
